About
The International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organisations (ISPSO) provides a forum for academics, clinicians, consultants and others interested in working in and with organizations utilizing psychoanalytic concepts and insights.
The Society's aim is to share organizational research, consultation and experiences in the context of psychoanalysis. The ISPSO holds an annual meeting and symposium, locally organized study groups and ongoing discussions on the Internet and encourages scholarship and research in the field.
The annual meeting is held in various places around the world and brings together interested people to discuss and debate organisation and their organisational experiences, usually through a framework that is congruent with the work of the society. In 2011 the meeting is to be held in Melbourne, Australia.
The psychoanalytic study of organisations has much to offer because psychoanalysis is a practice of regeneration. In studying dynamic processes, psychoanalytic approaches influence the inner life of the organisation as it observes, reflects and examines itself. This may occur at the level of individuals, groups, organisations or culture and society. And, this may occur through applied psychoanalytic practice, applied and action research, or through commentary from psychoanalytically informed observers.
The program has three aspects which run consecutively over 7 days. Professional Development Workshops occupy days 1, 2 ,3 & 4. Day 4 also offers a program exclusively for ISPSO members (its not to late to join ISPSO and take part in this day). The scientific program (the Symposium) is offered on days 5, 6 & 7.
